We
all feel empty, lonely, and guilty
- We all fear pain and death
- We all long to be loved and accepted
Can you relate to any of these? Have you ever felt this way
before? All of us have felt this way at times, but the deeper
question longing to be answered here is, “Why? Why do
we feel this way?”
The Problem: Our Separation
The Bible provides the answer: We have all broken God’s
perfect law. None of us is perfect. We’ve all done wrong,
and so we are guilty of sin and condemned to eternal hell
by our own actions.
And yet so many of us choose to ignore the truth of this
harsh reality. It’s much easier to simply escape. It’s
much less offensive to see a psychiatrist, take drugs, or
even try to justify our inherent goodness by doing as many
good things as we can, hoping that maybe when the scales are
weighed on that day, our good deeds will outweigh our bad
ones, and we might just make it into heaven.
But the truth is that only one thing in all creation can
fill the empty hole inside each of us. The Bible reveals that
secret. It offers an incredible and unique solution to our
problem! The solution is not good deeds, nor is it more hard
work. It’s not affluence, nor the perfect spouse or
family. It is not prestige, nor fame. It’s not even
food, medicine, clothing, or shelter.
The Solution: Jesus Christ
Jesus
Christ is the only one in the entire universe capable of saving
us from our emptiness, loneliness, guilt, fear, pain, and
death.
How is he capable? He is God. He came to earth, lived a sinless
life, took our sin to the cross, died in our place, and then
rose again to conquer death and hell. He is the only way to
gain entrance to the eternal pleasures of heaven. Jesus said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes
to God except through me” (John 14:6).
What a tremendous love story!
Jesus wants a relationship with you more than you can imagine.
He loved you enough to die for you. He knows your every fear
and pain, every doubt and burden, every longing and need,
and He promises to remain faithful to you for eternity. He
even makes this amazing promise, “I will wipe away
every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any
death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or
pain; the first things have passed away” (Revelation
21:4).
The Open Secret
So how can you be assured of heaven when you die? How can
you enjoy a life of inner peace and profound joy right now?
Give your life to Jesus. The Bible says, “If you
confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness,
and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation”
(Romans 10:9-10).
You can begin a relationship with Jesus right now, at this
very moment. But before you do, realize that life as a disciple
of Jesus is not easy on this side of heaven. You must count
the cost: are you really willing to give up everything to
follow your Savior? Are you willing to make Jesus the absolute
Lord of your life? Jesus said, “If anyone wishes
to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross
and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose
it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
(Matthew 16:24-25).
If you want to trust Jesus completely and make Him the Lord
of your life, praise God! Just tell this to Him in your heart,
and then tell everyone else.
Welcome to the kingdom of Jesus Christ, fellow Christian.
We rejoice with you, and we cannot wait to spend eternity
with you worshipping our risen Lord.
If you have given your heart to Jesus, we would like to make
a few suggestions:
Read
the Bible, every day, as much as you possibly can. Begin
in the New Testament, read through the book of Revelation,
and go back to Genesis and read the Old Testament.
- Learn to pray. Prayer is just talking with God, either
in your heart or out loud. The Bible says that the effective
prayer of a righteous man can accomplish great things.
- Find a church that teaches the Bible, chapter by chapter,
book by book, and begin attending there faithfully. You
will need friends who love the Lord to help you grow.
- Make sure you are baptized. Baptism is commanded by Jesus
in the Bible as a way to announce your decision to follow
Jesus.
Jesus Christ. Amen! He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning
and the End.
For this reason, Jesus will always be the “center”
of our news at World Opportunities.
