The committed and diverse World Opportunities board is chaired by an intellectual property lawyer, composed of a neurosurgeon, the CEO of a global imaging company, a missionary translator, and the former finance guru for a Fortune 500 organization. Together they make the decisions that guide the ministry into a strong and thriving future.

GREGORY WOOD
Chairman of the Board

Gregory serves as the chairman of the board at World Opportunities. He received his BS and MS in engineering from UCLA and went on to receive his law degree from the San Fernando Valley College of Law. He is a senior partner with the international law firm Fulbright and Jaworski LLP, where he is an expert in intellectual property litigation. Gregory also serves as the chairman of the board at his church and chairman of the board at Joni & Friends, a ministry assisting people worldwide with disabilities.

Greg celebrates 35 years of marriage to his wife Candy and speaks with pride of his two sons.

DWIGHT D. HAM
Board Secretary

Dwight is the chief operating officer at a global imaging systems company. He received his BS degree in business administration, specializing in finance, from California State University at Northridge. Dwight then received an MBA from Pepperdine University and an MA in biblical counseling from The Master’s College. Dwight also serves as the chairman of the board at Pregnancy Research Board and is a board member at KBI Industries, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Independent Citizens’ Advisor and Oversight Committee, and his local church.

Dwight and his wife Kathy have been married for 31 years and have two sons, Matthew and Jonathan, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Carissa.

JULIE HUNT
Board Treasurer

Julie is a graduate of Bob Jones University, where she earned a degree in French communications. She is proficient in several languages and is no stranger to missions work, having served as a translator for many years doing the work of the Lord.

Mrs. Hunt is happily married with two children.

EARLE WILLIAMS, PhD
Board Member

Dr. Williams was born in Los Angeles in 1915. Upon graduating from LIFE Bible College, he served as a pastor at Angeles Temple. He studied further at UCLA’s Graduate School of Theology and received his doctorate from Golden State University in 1979.

Today, Dr. Williams is the president of International Bible Institute (IBI), which provides curricula for Bible schools now functioning in hundreds of churches across multiple countries. An educator at heart, Dr. Williams still enjoys teaching courses at IBI at the tender age of 89.

PAT HOLT
Board Member

Pat received her BA from UCLA and her MS from USC. As a Christian school administrator for 16 years, Pat has enjoyed teaching and caring for children. She has spoken frequently in churches, as well as at educational seminars and conventions. Pat has written many books, including the bestseller, “When You Feel Like Screaming - Help for Frustrated Mothers.”

Pat and her husband, Dave, have two married children and three grandchildren.

DOUG HAMMONDS
Board Member


Doug brings over 30 years of financial expertise to the World Opportunities Board of Trustees. He received his BA degree in accounting and moved on to receive a master’s degree in finance from California State University at Northridge. Doug is a licensed certified public accountant and is a founding partner with the accounting firm Hammonds and Frey. He has served on the Torrey board of advisors at Biola University for four years and spent six years as a member of the board of directors of Children’s Hunger Fund.

Doug and his wife have two grown children.

Richard H. Yook, MD
Board Member

Dr. Yook earned his doctor of medicine from the UCLA School of Medicine after receiving a BS and master’s of optometry from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. He also has earned an MA from the School of World Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Yook has taken part in over 25 short-term eye surgery missions around the globe and has been a board member for several Christian organizations.

He and his wife have four children and currently reside in the Los Angeles area.

David W. Tellez, MD
Board Member

Dr. Tellez received his doctorate of medicine from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 1981 after earning his BS degree in biology from Loyola Marymount University. After completing his residency in pediatrics at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dr. Tellez completed his subspecialty training in critical care at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

He is currently associate director, pediatric critical care, Phoenix Children's Hospital, director of pediatrics with Air Evac Services, affiliate faculty with the American Heart Association, and a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Arizona, School of Medicine. Dr. Tellez has served since 1990 as faculty for the Medical Strategic Network, training healthcare providers worldwide to reach its patients for Christ. He is also the founder and president of the inner-city Neighborhood Christian Clinic.

He currently lives in Scottsdale with his wife and their three daughters.

FRANCIS J. WILLIAMS, MD, FACS
Medical Director, Emeritus

Dr. Williams’ medical career started with an MS degree from the University of Colorado in 1943. He received his medical doctor degree four years later from the same institution. He then decided to specialize in neurological surgery, which he pursued vigorously from 1950 to 1956.

From 1956 to 1968 Dr. Williams practiced neurological surgery with a medical group in Los Angeles County. Since 1959 he has been a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. In 1962 he was initiated into the American College of Surgeons, becoming a respected Fellow.

MIRCEA FLOREA, MD
Medical Director

Dr. Florea was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1945. He graduated from the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest in 1969. After immigrating to America in 1971, he completed his internal medicine residency at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Florea is board-certified in internal medicine as well as geriatrics and is an associate clinical professor at the Keck School of Medicine, USC. His medical career spans over 22 years as a senior physician for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he recently accepted the distinguished "Hands and Hearts Award" from the department’s secretary.
